Regional Fund - IGA, Pazardjik won an international award! Personally Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal presented the International Community Justice Awards!

“Learning Integration of Roma Offenders”

Project:
“Learning Integration of Roma Offenders”
Source of Finance:
Ministry of Regional Development and Welfare; Program “Social Integration” by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy
Main Aim:
Main aim of the project is to lower the social isolation and improve labour market accessibility for Roma offenders in the region of Pazardzhik.
Objectives:
1. To create a model for liquidation of illiteracy among Roma offenders from 16 to 29 years of age and implement the model as a specialized service according to the effective legislation.
This objective will create a new social service for the target group. 2. To enable the re-socialization of Roma prisoners before and after release and those with suspended sentences.
If this objective is fulfilled the opportunity of the target group for social and economic integration and positive social image will be improved.
3. To reduce the crime level and anti-social behaviour of Roma juveniles.
If this objective is fulfilled a new approach for reducing the committed crimes and anti-social behaviour of Roma juveniles will be created.
4. Develop non-governmental organizations capacity for delivering specialized services according the effective social legislation.
If this object is fulfilled access points of the target work to labour market will be improved.
Results Achieved:
11 literacy courses with 163 participants. From them: 52 prisoners – 3 prison courses, town of Pazardzhik with 42 inmates; 1 course in Prison, town of Bobov dol with 10 inmates; 111 juveniles, with suspended sentences and risk groups; 7 courses in the building of Regional Fund – IGA with 55 juveniles and 56 persons with suspended sentences and risk groups; acquired basic skills in reading, writing and reckoning; improved the access to social services and labour market.
