Main Aim:
Prepare magistrates for applying the new punishment “probation” into their judicial practice
Objectives:
Magistrates to be informed about the essence and philosophy of probation punishment and their attitude towards necessity of Bulgarian probation system to be changed;
2. Program adapted to the Bulgarian conditions to be tested and implemented for training of judges and prosecutors in probation measures application;
3. Probation to be made popular by informational materials
Results Achieved:
• Developing, consulting and preparing an information day program
• Preparing and printing informational-educational materials relevant to probation
• Organizing and conducting information days
• Model testing and results analysis
Two informational-training probation seminars for magistrates have been conducted through out the country. Trained 40 magistrates, judges, prosecutors in the international standards for applying social sanctions and measures as an alternative to imprisonment, peculiar features of probation system world-wide, opportunities for applying probation in Bulgaria and the latest legislative alterations in this direction. Specialized training probation program developed for magistrates.
