Project goals:
- 1)Increasing the institutional (local authorities, Regional health inspectorate, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, general practitioners, social and healthcare services) and civic awareness about the existing barriers to healthcare services for vulnerable groups in Pazardzhik Region.
- 2)Reaching agreement and engagement from the local authorities and other interested parties in applying measures and programmes for health prevention of vulnerable Roma groups - pregnant women and children between 0 and 3 years old.
Activities:
Activity 1. Forming a civic group for conducting an advocacy campaign and improving the healthcare services in the target municipalities in Pazardzhik Region.
Activity 2. Writing and sending a letter to all mayors and city councillors from the target municipalities.
Activity 3. Writing and distributing information and advocacy materials about early childhood development and the importance of quality healthcare.
Activity 4. Organising and conducting a public forum “Gram prevention = kilogram intervention”.
Activity 5. Public talks in the Roma communities.
Activity 6. Meetings with key partners and interested parties:
Subactivity 6.1. In-person meetings with the mayors of the eight target populated places.
Subactivity 6.2. Meetings with experts from Regional health inspectorate and Child protection department, pediatricians, gynecologists, doctors, and representatives of healthcare and educational institutions.
Activity 7. Pilot prevention programme in the neighbourhoods with extreme poverty - "Tokayto" in Pazardzhik and "Pirin" in Peshtera.
Activity 8. Sessions of the four municipal councils on the topic of barriers to healthcare services for vulnerable communities.
Activity 9. Public awareness and relations. Attracting media engagement.
