Goals of the project:

Short-term:

1. 1.Delivering psychological, social, and legal support to victims of domestic violence and rehabilitation services to perpetrators of domestic violence.
2. 2.Increasing the competency of institutions in enforcing domestic violence protection measures.
3. 3.Conducting monitoring on the enforcement of the Law for protection of domestic violence (LPDV) in Pazardzhik court region in the period 2015-2018.

Long-term:

1. Decreasing the acts of domestic violence and the negative consequences on the victims and society.

2. Turning the office at Crime Prevention Fund - IGA into a main centre for support and assistance of victims of domestic violence in Pazardzhik Region.

3. Delivering services and programmes to perpetrators of domestic violence.

 Target groups:

- victims of domestic violence;

- perpetrators of domestic violence;

-    representatives of institutions engaged with the issue and magistrates working on enforcing LPDV.

Activities:

Activity 1. Developing Programme for support of victims of domestic violence with an element of sexual abuse.

Activity 2. Conducting preventive programmes and consultations for victims of domestic violence: Social, psychological, and legal mediation; Behavioural rehabilitation group programme for victims of domestic violence; Behavioural rehabilitation group programme for support of victims of domestic violence; Programme for support of victims of domestic violence

with an element of sexual abuse; Visits for consulting victims of domestic violence in populated areas in Pazardzhik Region.

Activity 3. Developing Specialised programme for perpetrators of domestic violence; Risk assessment of repeated victimisation. Risk assessment report.

Activity 4. Training seminar for representatives of institutions engaged with the issue and magistrates working on enforcing LPDV.

Activity 5. Monitoring on enforcing LPDV in Pazardzhik court region.

Activity 6. Conducting four Information days in municipal centres in Pazardzhik Region where no information campaign has been held: Surnitsa, Velingrad, Rakitovo, and Bratsigovo.

Acivity 7. Closing conference.

Conference on domestic violence

Closing conference under Project "Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” took place at the conference hall of Grand Hotel “Hebar”, Pazardzhik. The Project was implemented by Crime Prevention Fund - IGA on the territory of Pazardzhik Region in the period of 21 May-21 October 2019.

Representatives of institutions and organisations engaged in the issue participated in the forum. Stefan Mirev, municipal manager at Pazardzhik Region, gave a welcome speech.

The following topics were discussed during the conference: the project results, the activities of the Bureau for consulting, directing, and assisting victims of domestic violence, the programmes and services for victims of violence, and the monitoring report on enforcing the Law for protection of domestic violence (LPDV) in Pazardzhik judicial region in 2015-2018.

During the second part of the forum, representatives of institutions engaged in the issue shared experience, practices, and ideas for future collaboration and improvement of the coordination mechanism. The conference ended with a discussion.

The Project was implemented under Contract for non-remunerated financial assistance, №93-00-154/21.05.2019, in agreement with the Ministry of Justice.

The Information campaign about domestic violence ended

The Information campaign about domestic violence under Project "Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” ended with forums in Velingrad on 5 September and Panagyurishte on 13 September. More than 80 people participated in it, among which representatives of municipal administrations, institutions, city councils, community centres, schools, and civic organisations.

The project results will be presented at a final conference in October which will take place in Pazardzhik.

The Project is implemented under under Contract for non-remunerated financial assistance in negotiation with the Ministry of Justice.

Velingrad is part of the information campaign about domestic violence

 

Information day about domestic violence took place in the conference hall of City Council - Velingrad. Among its participants were representatives of Municipal Administration, Municipal Council, municipal institutions, community centres, and schools.

 

The project “Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” was presented during the information event as well as the activities of the Bureau for consulting, directing, and assisting victims of domestic violence, the programmes and services for victims of violence, and the specialised programme for perpetrators of domestic violence.

Velingrad is the third municipal centre, after Rakitovo and Bratsigovo, where this information day takes place. It is part of the project for prevention of violence by Fund IGA "Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence”, implemented under Contract for non-remunerated financial assistance, in negotiation with the Ministry of Justice.

The event was organised with the support of Velingrad Municipality.

Information day on domestic violence in Bratsigovo

The Information day on domestic violence aroused great interest in Bratsigovo. The project, its goals, tasks, and activities were presented at the municipal centre in cooperation with Municipal administration and representatives of institutions, organisations, and schools in the territory of the municipality.

The event took place under Project “Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” which is implemented by Crime Prevention Fund - IGA. Such Information days have already been conducted in 10 municipalities in Pazardzhik Region within various projects on the same topic by Fund IGA. Similar forums will take place in Velingrad and Syrnitsa in September.

The goal is to spread information about the possibilities which the project presents for the target groups in all municipal centres in Pazardzhik Region.

Information day presents project for domestic violence

 Since may 2019, Crime Prevention Fund - IGA has been implementing Project “Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence”. Information days in municipal centres in the region where there have been no information campaigns on this topic are part of the project. Fund IGA has been working on the issue of domestic violence for the past 10 years. Such campaigns have already been conducted in the following municipalities: Pazardzhik, Peshtera, Panagyurishte, Belovo, Strelcha, Septemvri, Batak, and Lesichovo. With the current project, the campaign expands its scope to a few more municipalities: Rakitovo, Bratsigovo, Velingrad, and Surnitsa.

The first Information day took place on 19 July in the hall of Municipal council Rakitovo. Among the participants were the chairperson of Municipal council - Rakitovo, representatives of Municipal administration, institutions in the territory of the municipality, schools, civic organisations, and citizens.

The event was made possible through the generous support of Rakitovo Municipality.

  Training for institutions dealing with domestic violence

Training seminar under Project “Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” took place in Velingrad. The training was for representatives of institutions dealing with domestic violence and magistrates working to enforce the Law for protection of domestic violence.

The project team presented the activities of the Bureau for consulting, directing, and assisting, the perpetrators’ profiles, and the Specialised programme for perpetrators of domestic violence.

The guest lecturers, psychologist, and lawyer delivered presentations on the following topics: Gender differences or psychology of violence in the family system; Psychology consultation and marriage therapy in cases of domestic violence; Domestic violence - aspects in the legal practice; and Domestic violence as a crime.

The training ended with a beneficial discussion in which the participants talked about changes in the Penal Code regarding domestic violence.

Fund IGA offers programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence

 Project “Programmes and services for prevention and protection of domestic violence” was presented at the press club of the Bulgarian News Agency on 28 May. Its main goal is to decrease the acts of domestic violence and the negative consequences on the victims and society and to turn Fund IGA into a centre for assisting and supporting victims of domestic violence in Pazardzhik Region.

The Project activities include: Delivering psychological, social, and legal support to victims of domestic violence and rehabilitation services to perpetrators of domestic violence; Conducting preventive programmes and consultations for victims of domestic violence: social, psychological, and legal mediation; Behavioural rehabilitation group programme for support of victims of domestic violence; Programme for support of victims of domestic violence with an element of sexual abuse; Visits for consulting victims of domestic violence in populated areas in Pazardzhik Region; Developing Specialised programme for perpetrators of domestic violence and Risk assessment of repeated victimisation;

The project implementation will continue until the middle of October when a Closing conference for reporting on the results will take place.
