Victims of domestic violence receive consultations and assistance at Fund IGA
Since the beginning of February Fund - IGA has been working on project “Consulting, directing, assisting” whose main goal is to reduce acts of domestic violence and the negative effect on the victims and society.
Up to the present moment twelve women have resorted to the Bureau for consultation, direction, and assistance. All of them are victims of domestic violence on the part of their husbands, children, or other relatives. Eight of them have received individual psychological consultations. Four of them have received legal assistance regarding information about their rights and case hearing procedures in line with the Law for protection of domestic violence (LPDV). One of the women has voluntarily been accommodated at the Crisis Centre with the cooperation of the social services and the social service manager.
An analysis indicates that in the predominant cases husbands violate their wives.
One of the main aims of the specialised assistance is to increase the victims’ motivation to get to know their rights in line with LPDV.
The project is funded by the Bulgarian Fund for Women and will continue till the end of June 2018.
