Seminar on domestic violence gathered institutions from the whole region
Seminar “Coordination mechanism for assistance and support of victims of domestic violence” - way to long-term prevention of domestic violence organised by “Animus Association” Foundation and Crime Prevention Fund - IGA took place in the building of Pazardzhik Regional Administration.
The event is part of the national initiative for popularising and improving the project of the Coordination mechanism for assistance and support of victims of domestic violence (http://animusassociation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Koordinacionen-mehanizum-doma6no-nasilie.pdf). It is also supported by Mariya Gabriel - European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Vice-President of the European’s People Party (EPP), and head of the Bulgarian EPP delegation.
Jordan Kozhuharov, vice regional governor, opened the seminar. Katya Krustanova from Foundation “Animus” presented the Coordination mechanism for assistance and support of victims of domestic violence and Valentina Gesheva from Fund IGA presented the practices for coordinated actions for support of victims of domestic violence. The experience and practices of the institutions were discussed by Krasimir Komsalov - District court, Pazardzhik, Georgi Kacarov - District prosecutor’s office, Pazardzhik, Georgi Georgiev - regional coordinator of domestic violcence, Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Pazardzhik, and Nikoleta Uzunova - department “Child protection” at Regional directorate "Social assistance”, Pazardzhik.
Representatives of different institutions and social centres from Pazardzhik, Velingrad, Panagyurishte, Belovo, Surnica, Peshtera, Lesichovo, and Septemvri took part in the seminar.
At the second part of the training, the participants discussed the services for support of victims of domestic violence at the territory of Pazardzhik Region as well as the successful models for prevention of domestic violence.
The initiative is in the context of the The Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, which has been signed by the government of the Republic of Bulgaria. The European Women’s Lobby is a partner in the campaign.
The regional governor of Pazardzhik Region hosted the event.
