Bureau for consulting and support of victims of home abuse
Since May 2015 Bureau for consulting, directing, and support of victims of home abuse has been functioning at Crime Prevention Fund – IGA. The Bureau has been created under project “Against the Invisible Violence” funded by the Ministry of Justice. At the Bureau experts from the organization meet with victims of home abuse and provide them with psychological and juridical consultations as well as with mediation for family couples. They also work with perpetrators of abuse under a special programme. Thirty-seven victims of abuse and perpetrators of abuse have visited the Bureau from May to December 2015. Thirty psychological consultations and eight juridical consultations have been delivered. Five couples have gone through mediation. Four victims of home abuse have been directed to accommodation in Crisis Centre.
All specialists from the organization working in the Bureau have gone through a specialized training. They also have previous experience from their work with victims and perpetrators from two other projects implemented by Fund IGA in the last five years. In February 2016 the experts from the project together with 8 judges from Pazardzhik region are going to participate in a second training aiming to provide them with additional knowledge as well as an opportunity to share experience and ideas for a more beneficial and efficient work on the issue.
