Anti-AIDS Campaign for St. Valentine’s Day
For another year the volunteers from “Peer Education Club” participated actively in the national Anti-AIDS campaign for St. Valentine’s Day – February 14th. The main part of the campaign consisted of distributing leaflets and condoms on the streets of Pazardzhik and Peshtera and on the outreaches, where the young people have been working for several years.
Training under the heading of “Life is Priceless” was held in the Plenary Room of City Hall Pazardzhik at 2:00 p.m. The volunteers presented to their peers from the optional subject “Health Education” the focus of the campaign by different activities. They promoted not risky behaviour by a debate on the topic, demonstration on putting a condom, and theatrical promotion of messages.
The campaign was conducted together with Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI), the municipality manager of Component 1, Laboratory for Anonymous Free HIV Testing and Consultation and representatives of the optional subject “Health Education” in the public schools.
“Peer Education Club” implemented its activity within Component 7: “Reducing vulnerability to HIV of the young people at the highest risk (15-24) by enlarging the scope of services and programmes, directed to young people”. The Component is part of the Programme of the Ministry of Healthcare “Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS”.
In Pazardzhik this Component has been coordinated by Crime Prevention Fund – IGA.
