vuiIn the beginning of September the volunteers from the Peer education club (PEC) conducted a health-educational session which topic was ”Sexually transmitted infections”(STIs) in front of 20 pupils form the boarding school “Angel Uzunov”. During the lecture the youths informed their peers what is AIDS, what are the ways of getting infected, what are the symptoms, how to diagnose it and how to treat it. Despite some provocative attitudes from the peers, they overcame the internal tensions and responded calmly and with competence. The atmosphere turned friendly and after the exhaustion of the topic the boys from the boarding school shared their lives’ philosophy seeking approval and respect from their peers. From another point of view it was a valuable lesson for the activists from the PEC – regarding personal growth and virtues which matter to them.

The PEC works within the “HIV/AIDS prevention and control” Programme; Component 7: “ Reducing the HIV vulnerability among youths at highest risk (15-24 y.o.) by increasing the range of services and programs aimed at youths”. IGA Fund coordinates its implementation in the region of Pazardzhik.
