“Reducing of risk behavior and risk injection practices through commercial sex workers”

Main goal:
To keep the low level of dissemination of HIV/AIDS through commercial sex workers in the Pazardjik region
 
Objectives:
- Restricting of the risk sexual behavior; - Reducing of the dissemination of sexual and blood illnesses; - Early discovering and directing to medical treatment of the cases with HIV infection; - Development of effective programs for prevention of HIV infection on municipal level; - Development of the professional capacity on municipal level for planning and implementation of sustainable programs for prevention of HIV infection.
 
Expected results:
- Established contacts with 60-70 % of the commercial sex workers in the Pazardjik region; - 50 % increasing of the number of the commercial sex workers who define correct the ways for prevention of HIV infection for sexual way; - 80% increasing of the number of the commercial sex workers who said that they have used a condom during their last sexual contact; - 50 % of the commercial sex workers are tested for HIV infection and sexual illnesses; - Disseminated informational and training materials;

 Diploma for Fund – IGA team

 

348From the period 11th -14th December 2006 in Plovdiv, hotel “Imperial” was carried out the serial annual seminar for exchange of experience between all teams, working on the Program for prevention and control oh HIV/AIDS, Component 6 “Prevention of HIV/AIDS among prostituting women and men” at the Ministry of Health. In the seminar participation took the teams from Sofia, Plovdiv, Pazardjik, Varna, Burgas, Rousse, Stara Zagora and Haskovo. The participants discussed the achieved results from the beginning of the project in 2005 sp far. Different moments from the already prepared strategy for development of the program regarding the year of 2007 were discussed. The teams had the opportunity to participate in the discussing of concrete work groups, which were defining the themes of the discussion alone. On special cocktail were carried out nominations and were given “Oskars”. Fund – IGA won Oskar and received diploma for “Successful work in very unfavorable crime area”.

 IGA organised anti-AIDS campaign

 

 

274On December 1st, the International anti-AIDS day, the IGA teams, working within the program “Prevention and control of HIV/ AIDS among intravenous drug addicts and prostituting men and women” conducted a big campaign among Pazardjik and Plovdiv citizens and also the inmates in Kazitchene Prison Boarding House. Health brochures and contraceptives were distributed. The aim of the program is raising the awareness of the society on AIDS and the ways to prevent it.

 

Training for the K4 and K6 teams under the “Prevention and control of HIV/AIDS” Program

 

260On October 10th and 11th the K4 and K6 teams from Regional Fund – IGA took part in a seminar “Training for field work within the implementation of the second phase of the second generation pandemic control during 2005”. At the seminar the idea of the second generation of pandemic control within the program “Prevention and control of HIV/AIDS”, the protocol for the implementation of the monitoring and the methods of field work were discussed together with RI – PCPH, the general principles of making a standardized interview were defined etc. The questionnaires for behavior inquiry intended for intravenous drug addicts and prostituting men and women were discussed and tested in role playing games in the final part of the training.
