Main Aim::
Main aim of the project is to create a pilot model of probation framework built up of four probation services in one court region.
Objectives:
- Upgrade magistrates` training from Pazardzhik Court Region for applying probation with the advent of the year 2004;
- Create Probation Council Model, heading from the proposed alterations of the Penalty Execution Law; four similar councils in the district of Pazardzhik to begin functioning;
- Select and train probation assistants in the district of Pazardzhik;
- Take specific probation measure with the effective legislation in the year 2004;
- Influent on community attitude and awareness and multiply project results by carrying out a continuum of promotional and publishing activities.
Results Achieved:
Four working meetings are held;; Carried out two seminars; one training for probation assistants; one training for Probation Councils Members; three Probation Councils established; Trained 40 magistrates from Pazardzhik Court Region;83 representatives of Pazardzhik district prepared in applying probation sanctions and measures; 141 persons with suspended sentences have been probation supervised as well as 54 juvenile offenders; Work done with 57 ex-prisoner; Developed and printed one Probation Councils Work Manual; Printed two information folders-“ Probation as Punishment and Probation Measures in Bulgarian Legislation” and “Probation Councils Role according the Effective Bulgarian Legislation”; a closing conference is held;7 materials published in the organization web-site; 6 articles published in the local press; P pieces of reporting broadcasted by the local cable TV.
