Report for the media

The Public mediator of Pazardjik Municipality Nedelka Prejdarova and the Ombudsman of Lesichovo Municipality Maria Dimitrova presented their first reports to the media on a special press conference. After the Public mediator of Pazardjik was officially presented by “Civil Activity Against Corruption” Coalition on May 11th , she reported the first 4 cases and her activity for solving them. For the first time the Public mediator of Lesichovo Maria Dimitrova was presented to the media, after she was elected by the Lesichovo municipal council on April 29th this year. She has worked on 5 cases in Lesichovo so far. Beside these cases the two Public mediators have been working on verbal signals and have consulted citizens. They both expressed their content with the work so far as well as hope that the interest and the confidence of the citizens of the two municipalities will increase.

First report from the Public mediator

The first report of the Public mediator Nedelka Prejdarova was presented before the “Civil Activity Against Corruption” Coalition. She reviewed thoroughly her work to this moment and defined the tendencies and the specifications of the first cases, taken to her. She also answered to questions from members of the coalition that elected her on April 4th this year. Ideas and recommendations for the future work of the Public mediator were shared.

Civil Mediator Will Defend Civil Rights

 On 11th of May at the press-conference at "Info" cafe-club the Civil Mediator of Pazardzhik Municipality was introduce by the Coalition "Civil Actvity Against Corruption". After the Municipal cuncil twice failed in Public mediator Selection, the Coalition appointed Nedelka Prezhdarova for Civil Mediator. Activity of the Civil mediator will be funded by the Democracy Commission at the Embassy of the USA to Bulgaria. Nedelka Prezhdarova is the applicant who collected most votes at the last Municipal Concil selection.. But only three votes were wanted for holding the position..She is 36 years of age, married, with two children, Geography teacher at the School of General Stuides "Georgi Bregov"-Pazardzhik..She is Law Semesters Graduate. . The Civil mediator will receive citizens on two weekdays- Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 12.00 o` clock in the building of the Regional Fund-IGA.

Candidates for Second Public Mediator Selection

On 15th of February in Pazardzhik there was an admitting and interviewing procedure for candidates selection for second public mediator selection

Selection of Public Mediator in Pazardzhik Municipality Failed

On 27th of January in the Plenary hall of Pazardzhik Municipality a public mediator selection took place but such mediator was not selected.

Three Public Mediator Candidates` Conceptions Presented

On 19th January at the meeting of the Temporary Working Commission conceptions of the three admitted candidates for a public mediator of Pazardzhik municipality were given a hearing.

Regulations of Public Mediator Activity are accepted

On 25th of November in the Plenary hall of Pazardzhik municipality a regular session of the municipal council –Pazardzhik was held. The agenda also comprised the approving of regulations for public mediator.after a few changes the Regulations were accepted.

Round Table about Public Mediator Role and Functions

On 21st of December in the Mayor` s hall of Pazardzhik municipality a public discussion was organized : Round table on theme: “Opportunities of Public-Private Partnership in Pazardzhik municipality. Functions and Role of the Public mediator” Discussion was about the opportunities for partnership between the state, local authorities and non-governmental organizations and the place of public mediator institution.

Commission Will Work on the Public Mediator Draft Regulations

On 28th of October a regular session of the Municipal council-Pazardzhik was held. The Draft Regulations for Organization and Activity of Pazardzhik Municipality Public Mediator was discussed. Temporary Working Commission of 11 people was made for working over the Project and putting it for another discussion at the next session. Commission included 6-municipal councilors, 3 municipal representatives, two Regional Fund IGA` representatives and an expert from the Democracy Research Center..

Information Day on Popularizing the Public Mediator Institution

On 21st of October Information day for popularizing the public mediator institution was carried out in the Plenary hall of the municipality of Pazardzhik. Multimedia presentation of the project”Public Mediator in Pazardzhik Municipality” was made before 42 people- municipal councilors, mayors of residential areas, various state and municipal institutions(court, police, schools, journalist and others), as well as before people in charge of municipality and district. . Project participants became aware of the practical aspects of introducing the public mediator institution in Pazardzhik municipality, the experience of other municipality, civil initiative role and other.

Public Mediator Project Starts in Pazardzhik

On 27th of September in the Assembly Hall of the Municipal Council-Pazardzhik a press-conference was held with the participation of the Municipal Council Chair Todor Popov, mayor of Pazardzhik municipality Ivan Evstatiev, executive manager of Regional Fund –IGA Marina Manolcheva and municipal councilors. The Local Press and Electronic Media reporters were introduced to the project goals and objectives, as well as to the legal framework in the process of institutionalizing of the public mediator.
