Main goal: 

To raise awareness of a wide circle of public groups in Bulgaria about the European standards and practices regarding the implementation of community sanctions and measures as alternatives to the imprisonment.

 

Objectives: 

- To provide more information and modify the attitudes of main groups of our society: magistrates, representatives of local government and local institutions, representatives of universities and non-government organizations towards the benefits and the advantages of probation; - To develop a sustainable model for popularization of basic European normative documents relevant to the introduction of community sanctions and measures; - To provide support to the Bulgarian government in the process of legislative and institutional introduction of probation in 2004 – 2005.

 

Achieved results: 

- Carried out 4 informational days on probation in four regions of the country with the participation of EU experts; - Actualized and published on Bulgarian “Probation and probation services. European perspective” under the edition of Prof. Anton van Kalmtot; - Prepared and published two specialized editions – brochure “European standards in the field of the public sanctions and measures” and “Probation” magazine – the fourth book for popularizing of the European standards in this field.
